Why not join the Club for a Riverina day ride to Junee for lunch at the Red Cow Hotel? If you’d prefer a shorter ride, then why not join the first leg of the ride through to Harden-Murrumburrah for coffee (230 km return)?

Outbound: via the Barton and Hume Hwys, then Burley Griffin Way to Harden-Murrrumburrah (with coffee stop at Barnes Store Emporium Cafe), then picking up the Olympic Hwy at Wallendbeen, through to Cootamundra and onto to Junee (205km): Google Maps

Return: each to their own and to decide on the day with options including:

• Gundagai and Nangus Rds to Gundagai: for those not familiar with this route, it’s a splendid 60km ride on secondary roads (currently in good riding condition) through open farmland and rolling hills, with a good mix of corners to break up the straighter bits, especially closer to Gundagai:  Google Maps
• Gundagai to Canberra:
• • Via Jugiong Rd, BG Way, Cunningar Rd and Lachlan Valley Way (215km): Google Maps  or
  • Via Berremangra and Bouyeo Rds and Burley Griffin Way (180km): Google Maps  or
  • Retrace outbound route (205km): Google Maps  or
  • Hume Hwy (150km): Google Maps

Approximately 415-475km return (depending on return route) on sealed main and secondary roads. Expect some road surfaces to be damaged. Break/stop if needed on the return leg to be decided on the day.

Fuel: Available in Murrumburrah, Junee and Gundagai.

GS Riders: Those keen to detour for fun on gravel or dirt are more than welcome to join en route, or at the pub.

Meeting Point: Meet fuelled and ready to go at Ampol/Caltex Foodary (Curran  Drive, Gold Creek (Nicholls)) for a prompt 09:00 departure.

For those joining the ride along the way, or making their own way to the pub, proposed meeting points (with best guess times) are:

·         Ampol/Caltex Foodary, Gold Creek (Nicholls) - leaving 09:00;

·         Barnes Store Emporium Cafe (Harden-Murrumburrah) - arriving 10:15 and leaving by 11:00;

·         Red Cow Hotel, Junee - arriving 12:10 (lunch booking @12:15).
