Temora Aviation Museum’s commemorating 80 years since WWII ended with free museum entry from September 2nd for 80 days (excludes ticketed aircraft showcase events) https://www.aviationmuseum.com.au/
If historic ex-military aircraft plus saving a $20 entry fee piques your interest, then why not join the Club for a ride through NSW’s Hilltops and Riverina to Temora, for lunch at the Guardhouse Café and to check out some legendary aircraft? Prefer a shorter ride – then join us for the first leg through to Boorowa for coffee (100km one way).
Outbound: Ex. Ampol/Caltex Foodary, Gold Creek (Nicholls) to Boorowa (coffee), then on through Murringo, Young and Milvale to Temora (229 km): Google Maps
Return: Each to their own and to decide on the day with options including:
Approximately 430-460 km return (ex. Ampol Foodary, Nicholls) on sealed main and secondary roads (expect some damaged surfaces).
Fuel: Available in Boorowa, Young, Temora, Wallendbeen, Cootamundra and Murrumburrah.
Meeting Point: Meet fuelled and ready to go at the Ampol/Caltex Foodary, Gold Creek (Nicholls) for an 08:30 departure.
GS Riders: For those keen on a gravel/dirt route/detour, you’re more than welcome to join us en route, or at the Museum/Cafe.
Register if you're interested in coming so I can let the Museum/Cafe know likely numbers for lunch. Please email rides@bmwmcc.au if you plan to meet the group on the way or at the Museum/Cafe, or head elsewhere after coffee in Boorowa.
For those joining the ride along the way, or making their own way to Temora, proposed meeting points (with best guess times) are:
- Ampol/Caltex Foodary, Gold Creek (Nicholls) - leaving 08:30
- Murrumbateman Country Inn (passing by, not stopping) – 08:55
- The Bakery Boorowa (38 Marsden St, Boorowa) – arriving 09:40, leaving 10:20
- Temora Aviation Museum and Guardhouse Cafe (1 Tom Moon Ave, Temora) - arriving 11:50
Return route rest stop: To decide on the day.
Cheers
